Norte siempre al norte! North always heading north!

5.30 am Everybody are sleeping and I can have the computer for a while and no one claimed me, since the old Toshiba died on that freak wave on the south of Rio Grande do Sul we are have only one notebook and five persons is too many for that.
Kids schoolwork , Flor mails also the kids and mine, Facebooks, blogs and other thing the machine never stops, so now I choose to start when the sun comes up early and the solar panels are charging and all onboard are sleeping to drink a few mates and write in peace.
Returning to the trip, we left Itaparica after making a major purchase in Ribera, fill the water tanks and loading about 150 liters of diesel.
The forecast was for winds from SE to E sector with intensities of 12 to 18 knots (media average for the gribs so we calculated 20 to 25) blowing since last Monday, the ideal would have been out on Tuesday, but it was a holiday and everything was closed and had to wait until Wednesday to go to the supermarket, on Thursday early in the morning we moved from Salvador to load diesel from the floating pontoon and then move on north.
Southbound 5 miles up to past the bank of Santo Antonio, accompanied by dolphins who jumped at the bow and once the bank was away we head north.
Like always the SE turns into a NE wind ,was about 70 or 80 degrees or so, so tight tack with main and staysail and slamming in waves of three meters.
We had to help a little with the engine to past the point of Itapoa and then we continue in only one tack up to Cabedelo.
The engine broke again one of the plugs from the exhaust manifold, the ordinary steel can not long anything with hot seawater and I had changed the six caps in Niteroi, happily buy more parts and now I will replace, was nothing serious and I put a screw and sikaflex to keep walking but it is annoying having to dry the bilge again.
First day luff slamming harder but very good speed by 5 to 6 knots, the three boys were seasick but then improved, they notice the difference when we where in Buzios lumps for two weeks and then we go out everyone was saving more than acclimated to the movement, but this time after a month in Itaparica and around flat water without big waves was hard.
Flor made a bad move during the loading of food and her back was with a lot of pain, had it bad all the way and the jump of the boat did not help and also we had finished the diiclofenac and Geniol was the only bank in the trip.
From Maceio could open a little Yankee sheets and the stay sail and most sailed from 6 to 7 knots.
Santi caught a Caballa and I cook in the oven with onions and butter .
Santi at night catch a fisherman line with a 10 mils polypropylene.
That stops the boat immediately and not being able to release.
The line had got caught on one anode and it had to be cut, leaving only two short whips the stern or so we thought he.
Continue at full speed with long waves over three meters before moving Recife had a guest onboard for dinner again, Santi catch his first DORADO! Was a nice fight, he was around nine kg more or less and about a meter long, was hard to get him onboard but after the good advices from Graham and Dave we made it.
Again a baked dish.
Recife onwards had a favorable current of about two knots and Ypake flying between 8 and 9 knots by midnight we were anchored in Cabedelo.
Surprise was when next morning when we woke up and saw the boat floating beside a coil of rope about thirty meter long, coiled and attached at the port anode, we brought all that stuff in tow and we didn't realized ops!
Then navigate the Paraiba River to Jacare and we got back together with S/V Karma.
We cross Cabo Blanco and already from here to above is all a slide or so they say (let's hope so) with the flow for the E and SE trade winds and are very calm, we wanted to get here before starting the NE and pull down current of Recife to the south.
The day after tomorrow we will try to get out of here heading to Kourou in French Guiana , the kids (and we also) want to see the launch of ESA's Ariane 5 is scheduled later this month,
And from there always north.
I'm going to cook some tortas fritas and drink a good mates.
A hug to everyone.
