St David

Last Friday we move the boat to Ellis Bay on St David Island, waiting for a gale arriving Saturday morning with winds over 50 kts , up anchor and motoring across the bay to such bay.
We found a nice spot where anchor on 33 feet and good protection from S SW, we drop the CQR off 80 lbs and start wait for the gale.
The bay is very close to the St David Island , and with Flor and Max we did some nice walks around, visit the St David Church on a hill and see around.
I stop writing because the solar panel want to go away and I put a rope around to prevent that.
Now I can continue, today Sunday we move again to St Georges Harbor when the wind start to rotates on W NW and we expect winds on 45kts around mid day, now blowing more than 40 kts.
Pick up the anchor on strong winds and a close bay surrounded by reefs is a dangerous maneuver , any problem with the engine left you over the rocks before you can notice...............and for this every maneuver can be think twice before execute and alway have a back up plan.
For us we have a second anchor ready and the head sails ready to open in two seconds in case of any engine failure.
But the old Volvo help us and we pick up the anchor with no problems and cross the bay again with interesting waves but nothing compare with the waves on the leg to here.
Coming inside the harbor and anchor in 24 feet of water with 130 feet of chain.
And here we are jumping and rolling waiting the gale rotates a little bit more to the N to give us some peace with the waves.
Here we have Internet again and the girls and I are more happy.
On the repairs side , main was ready (the Ocean Sail Loft kill us with the price , but is Bermuuuuu) and now we are expecting a good weather to weld the stay and the radar arc supports, but every day rain a little and this not help to weld and paint and for this we still wait.
Yet not visit Hamilton , but we need to go soon us the Supermarket here is very very expensive.
Josefina and Pilar are near to finish this school year and next week hope to give the last test and finish.
A Czechoslovakian Sailboat arrives a couple days ago from Florida and heading to Azores also , we gonna talk with them one off this days.
Also 3 French arrive a few days ago, they lefty their boat here last November and now are heading to BVI , pan to leave tomorrow is the weather aloud.
Nice 42 wooden sailboat a beauty classic.
Now we are not any more alone and that is good, we have other yotties to talk hehehe.

El viernes pasado nos movimos a Ellis Bay en St David Island ante la llegada de una baja el sábado con vientos de 50 kts y lluvia , asi que levamos anclas y partimos rumbo a dicha bahía.
Encontramos un buen lugar donde fondear con reparo del S y SW en 11 metros de profundidad, largamos la CQR de 35 kg y a espera la tormenta.
La bahía esta pegada a la isla de St David que bajamos a conocer con Flor y Max el mismo viernes por la tarde , visitamos la Iglesia local que es muy linda sobre un morro y dimos una vuelta por ahí.
Acabo de atar los paneles que amenazaban con salir volando :-)
Resumiendo, hoy domingo nos volvimos a St George a medida que el viento fue rotando al Oeste y se espera del Oeste NordOeste Norte a la noche, pero da rachas de 45kts a las dos de la tarde y ya a mediodía están soplando tranquilamente arriba de 40kts.
Levantar el fondeo con viento fuerte y en una bahía cerrada con arrecifes alrededor es una maniobra riesgosa, un problema en el motor y estas arriba de las piedras antes de que te des cuenta...........así que todo se piensa dos veces antes de hacerlo y se mantiene un salida de emergencia por las dudas.
En nuestros caso una segunda ancla a mano y las velas de proa lista para ser abiertas en dos segundos ante cualquier falla.
Por suerte con la ayuda del viejo Volvito levamos ancla sin problema y cruzamos la bahía nuevamente, con olas interesantes pero nada comparado con la ultima pierna.
Nos metimos lo mas adentro posible del puerto y fondeamos nuevamente con la CQR y 40 mts de cadena en 7 metros de profundidad.
Y acá estamos saltando y rolando esperando a que el viento se valla un poco mas al N así nos deja de molestar la ola.
De este lado tenemos internet nuevamente asi que las chicas y yo mas contentos jeje.
Por el lado de reparaciones , ya tenemos la mayor arreglada (nos mataron con la reparación pero bue es bermuuuuuuuu) y esperamos que el clima mejore para poder soldar, todos los días esta lloviendo un rato y eso no ayuda a soldar y pintar, asi que seguimos esperando.
Todavía no movimos a Hamilton pero vamos a tener que hacerlo pronto , el super de acá es carisimo.
Las chicas ya están casi listas para rendir el ultimo examen del anio y en breve lo pediremos al SEAD así terminan.
Llego un barco Checo desde Florida que también va a Azores así que tenemos que visitarlos uno de estos dias.
Ademas vinieron 3 franceses que dejaron su barco acá en Noviembre y siguen a BVI maniana, es un clásico de madera de 42pies muy lindo.
Por lo menos no estamos solos y hay otros barcos con quienes charlar.
